Frequently Asked Question

Q.Why chose mobile grooming?
A. Less stressful for pet, and owner and more convenient. More personal you get to know your groomer, your pet is not passed around to other groomers. We get to know your pets personally and learn what is or is not normal for them making it easy for us to determine if something may be wrong with them. One-on-one grooming (pets groomer's utmost attention we don't even answer phones during groom). Closer to pets home (usually park within a 5 block radius). Pet is done in about an hour in most cases. (Depends on breed, size, condition of coat, type of haircut desired, and if pet has any special medical conditions) Pet can be done while you are away at work (pre-arrangements must be made). Grooming doesn't have to be an ALL day event, let us come pamper your pet.

Q. How does mobile grooming service work in the city?

A. First you have filled out the intake form found on Clients Page and make your pets appointment. We will call you when we are close to your home and tell you exactly were to meet us. We try to park within five blocks of your home in most cases. Once your pet is close to done we will give you a call to come pick up your pet. At that time it is a good idea to have in mind the day of your pets next grooming so we can book the time and day you prefer.

Q. Do you groom cats?

A. Yes we do. We have a certified cat stylist on board.

Q. How often should my pet be groomed?

A. Most pets need to be professionally groomed every 8 weeks or less.

Q. When is it best to have my pet groomed for the first time?

A. We like to see new pets in our mobile van as early as 8 weeks of age. It’s never too early to get your pet accustomed to grooming. Your pet’s first visit will be short and simple. Probably just a bath, blow-dry, nail clipping, and perhaps a little trimming around the face and private area. We need to start very slow and sweet as to not stress the little pet out and to avoid “turning him off” to the grooming process.

Q. Can I see my pet get groomed?

A. Unfortunately our insurance does not cover customers in our mobile unit, but upon request we can video some of the grooming session for a fee if you would like.

Q. Can you groom my pet if it is aggressive?

A. Most of the time we can. We can usually tell at initially meeting whether or not your pet can be safely handled. We do not sedate pets and ask if your pet is sedated to inform us. We recommend speaking to your vet about any medications dosing. Aggressive pets may be muzzled for their safety and ours. A handling fee may be charged.

Q. What vaccinations do you require?

A. We do require all pets to be current on their all vaccinations especially Rabies, DHP-PV & Kennel cough and to wait at least 48 hours after shots before visiting us. The waiting period helps to ensure your pet isn't sore at the injection site, which can cause irritability. Puppies and kittens between 8 weeks and 6 months of age may receive services without vaccinations however proof of age must be provided. If your pet is allergic to vaccinations a letter for your vet stating so is required. Vaccinations are required by New York State Law and unfortunately services can not be done without them.

Q. What determines the cost?

A. The cost is based on the breed of the pet, what you want done, the condition of the coat, and the pet’s behavior. All pets are different. As hard as you try to describe your pet, his hair, his behavior and what you want done over the phone, without seeing your pet or meeting your pet, we can not give you an exact price over the phone – Only an approximation.

Q. Do you accept credit cards?

A. Yes we do we accept Visa, Master Card, Discover & American Express.

Q. ¿Habla usted español?

A. Si tenemos a alguien de nuestro personal que habla español.

Q. Is there a vet that you recommend?

A. Yes we recommend Oliver's dog and cat clinic.
